Non-thermal membrane effects of electromagnetic fields and therapeutic applications in oncology

چکیده

The temperature-independent effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) have been controversial for decades. Here, we critically analyze the available literature on non-thermal radiofrequency (RF) and microwave EMF. We present a review preclinical clinical data antiproliferative various EMF applications, including conventional RF hyperthermia (HT, cRF-HT). Further, suggest evaluate plausible biophysical electrophysiological models to decipher membrane effects. Available provide sufficient evidence existence exposure cRF-HT, in particular, amplitude modulated (AM)-RF-HT. In our model, transmembrane ion channels function like rectifiers low-pass filters. cRF-HT induces fluxes AM-RF-HT additionally promotes vibrations at specific resonance frequencies, which explains via disequilibrium (especially Ca2+) and/or resonances causing depolarization, opening certain channels, or even hole formation. may be tumor-specific owing cancer-specific because, with increasing malignancy, elasticity parameters differ from that normal tissues. Published suggests are likely exist could high potential improve future treatments oncology.

The effects of electromagnetic fields on fish

The objective of this paper is to survey the results of studies on the biological effects of electromagnetic fields on fish. First, the basic concepts of electromagnetism and electromagnetic spectrum and the importance of studying it in the case of fish are discussed. Then a summary of the results obtained on the effects of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) and radiofreq...

Non-thermal continuous and modulated electromagnetic radiation fields effects on sleep EEG of rats☆

In the present study, the alteration in the sleep EEG in rats due to chronic exposure to low-level non-thermal electromagnetic radiation was investigated. Two types of radiation fields were used; 900 MHz unmodulated wave and 900 MHz modulated at 8 and 16 Hz waves. Animals has exposed to radiation fields for 1 month (1 h/day). EEG power spectral analyses of exposed and control animals during slo...

Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields: Carcinogenic and Other Biological Effects

In the electromagnetic spectrum, structural damage to living tissues per unit of absorbed energy tends to increase with the decrease of a wavelength which is evident not only for ultraviolet and ionizing radiation but also for the infrared and visible light. By causing thermal damage after absorbing energies that would be harmless for radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (EMF), tissues are eve...
